I've been working in tech for 25 years—13 of those at Microsoft. But my real passion is the 22 acres I own in Rochester, Washington.
My property has two wells, a septic system, a 30kW solar array with battery backup, a backup generator, multiple outbuildings, and more equipment than I can keep in my head. For years, I tried managing it all with spreadsheets, calendar reminders, and paper manuals stuffed in a filing cabinet.
Then came the generator incident. I'd forgotten to service it, and when the power went out during a winter storm, it wouldn't start. The emergency repair cost me $1,800 and left my family without backup power for a week.
That's when I decided to build something better.
SteadOS is the tool I wished I had. I use it every single day on my own property. Every feature exists because I needed it. If it works for my 22 acres, it'll work for yours.
